Meet Sarah and Simon – The pair behind Jarden in Tauranga

Simon and Sarah, based in Jarden’s Tauranga office.
When ex-All Black Ron Jarden founded R.A Jarden & Co in the back of a menswear store in Wellington he didn’t expect to create New Zealand’s leading independent investment and advisory group. Now with 12 offices nationwide, looking after Kiwis including family trusts, charitable trusts, companies, entrepreneurs, Iwi groups, and individuals, Ron certainly made his mark on New Zealand’s financial services.

The Tauranga Jarden office was opened in 2022, and the team now consists of two Wealth Management Advisers, Sarah Ashby and Simon Bradley, along with the newest team member, Wealth Management Associate Sally Ward. The Jarden Tauranga team supports locals with wealth management services, ranging from investment portfolio and transactional advice to Jarden’s Discretionary Investment Management Service (DIMS) where the adviser manages the investment portfolio on the client’s behalf.

Sarah has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services, 15 of those years providing financial advice. She is passionate about building relationships with her clients and designing portfolios that are transparent and help clients achieve their investment goals. Originally from the Waikato, Sarah has called the Bay of Plenty home since 2011. When she is not in the office, she enjoys fishing and regular climbs up the Papamoa Hills.

After spending 18 years working in financial markets in Europe and Asia, Simon returned to the region his wife, Lauren, grew up in to raise their young family on an orchard in the Western Bay of Plenty. Simon has extensive knowledge of global markets, and he takes great satisfaction in helping clients achieve their financial goals and build wealth for future generations.

“Since opening the Jarden Tauranga office, we’ve felt very welcomed by our clients and the business community in Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty. We’ve got a great range of clients, from business owners to those involved in the horticultural and farming industries, as well as those new to the region who have relocated from Auckland and further afield,” says Sarah.

Both Sarah and Simon enjoy playing active roles within their communities through Jarden’s sponsorship of Papamoa’s Surf Life Saving Club, Tauranga City to Surf, Ōmokoroa Golf Club, the Ōmokoroa Cricket Club and Jarden’s national partnership with Surfing for Farmers.

“We seek to partner with the community in areas where our values align strongly with the clubs and their members. We are honored to offer support to many local community groups and have fun immersing ourselves within those communities as part of our work.”

Sarah and Simon place strong importance on understanding a client’s financial needs and risk appetite, while respecting any restrictions they may wish to observe in their asset allocation. Investment decisions are backed by industry-leading research that supports the investment decision-making process.

As part of the evolution of Jarden, we recently announced the completion of a transaction to form a new entity, FirstCape, creating a leading advice and asset management business in New Zealand. This enables us to deliver enhanced outcomes for clients, giving access to world-class research, industry expertise, securities distribution, securities trading execution and debt and equity underwriting capabilities.
