Bay of Plenty business shows resilience
We are proud to bring you the fourth iteration of our annual yearbook. We appreciate the strong support we have received from our regular advertisers, both in the Year Book and in our monthly newspaper Bay of Plenty Business News.
Our annual publication goes to the printer in mid-2022 and will remain in circulation on newspaper stands and in corporate offices for the following 12 months.
I joined BOP Business News seven years ago at the invitation of our Publisher Alan Neben and was soon joined by our Business Director Pete Wales.
We soon realised that a city as vibrant as Tauranga and the surrounding Bay of Plenty needed to celebrate the strong business culture across the region and so we began publishing the Year Book and are delighted this year to be producing our fourth edition of the annual – the Gold edition.
We are also appreciative of the support this year that has come in the form of forewords from national identities Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, ANZ Bank chairman and former premier Sir John Key, and international sporting luminary and local icon, yachtsman Peter Burling.
Despite the problems that have plagued the country since the onset of the pandemic, Tauranga and its businesses are resilient and are recovering well. Some observers think the Bay of Plenty is a one-dimensional Kiwifruit region.
However, it is anything but. In fact there are a multiplicity of fascinating and world-class businesses based here.
Progressive and successful region
This is one of the country’s most progressive and effective business centres and community members are also remarkably supportive of each other and cooperative.
It hasn’t been easy for Kiwi businesses since the onset of Covid-19. We are pleased that – not only has our monthly publication continued to come out on time and online throughout this difficult period – but also that we are able to bring you our fourth annual celebration of the business community.
Anybody who knows the publishing industry knows that it is a rare feat to successfully produce an independent business publication.
This year’s Year Book offers representative examples of the various competencies on display in the region. We are proud to be able to include some 60 examples of the best that this region’s business community can offer.
We wish you interesting and entertaining reading and are pleased to offer our thanks to the business and wider community for their support.
