In 2018, Ben entered the luxury real estate industry and from day one, he set out building relationships and solving problems in a meaningful and personally rewarding way.
Growing up in the Irish and Scottish countryside, Ben developed a love of rural life and from a young age was intrigued by the unique and wide variety of homes and lifestyles chosen by friends, family and others within these communities.
Following a move to New Zealand at age 25, he was initially drawn into corporate life in Wellington City, a career that included roles across engineering, information technology, and project management in the finance/banking sector. Whilst varied, these roles all shared one thing in common – a focus on solving problems and navigating the requirements and expectations of key stakeholders in any given project or task at hand. This skillset is invaluable in the corporate world, however Ben felt an unwavering pull back to the land, back into peoples’ homes, and a desire to apply himself to helping people and families (vs stakeholders and companies) navigate change.

His curiosity and interest in property really came alive and over the following years, by any measure he excelled – working alongside astute buyers, and representing the sellers of some of Wellington’s most admired residences under the Sotheby’s brand.
Following the birth of Ben and his wife Dara’s baby girl ‘Winter’, a move north in seek of sun, sand, and working with a company that Ben had always admired – became a reality. Joining Oliver Road in 2022, Ben hasn’t looked back. His experience and ethical approach to life and business have proven to exceed all expectations of the company’s clients and team, and his family couldn’t be happier to now call the beautiful Bay of Plenty “home”.
Without question, Ben’s success in the real estate industry thus far can be attributed to his natural interpersonal skill in combination with an ability to understand, simplify, and appropriately convey the often complex nature of luxury properties. He understands that selling high-value homes in this high-stakes market segment can be a lengthier and more challenging process which, above all else, requires unwavering commitment from the agent.
