This year’s theme, “Forging your own path”, was based on the idea that success took a different form for everyone, said the organisers. Conference speakers had been chosen as trail-blazing individuals who had broken the mould, challenged the status quo and taken risks in order to achieve career success..

The programme starts with a dinner on Friday evening, followed by a full day of speakers on the Saturday. Speakers include:

• Lisa King, 2019 New Zealander of the year finalist, social entrepreneur and founder of Eat my Lunch.

• Dr Farah Palmer, lecturer and former Black Ferns captain.

• Sandra Clair, founder of Artemis, health scientist and traditional plant medicine expert.

• Tonia Cawood, chair of Chiefs Rugby Board, independent chartered director and advisor.

• Teresa Hodges, founder of Blak,

• Rebecca Anderson, founder of Chaos & Harmony.

The conference has been held biennially since 2002 and has gained a must-attend reputation for women in business in the Bay of Plenty. Organisers said some past attendees had found it had been a life-changing experience, and had garnered strength from speakers and delegates to take a significant career step.

This year’s conference is anticipated to again be a sell-out, with around 190 women expected to attend. Attendees will come from all ages and stages in business, from senior businesswomen, through to those thinking of making the first step into business. Organisers said based on previous experience, the attendees would be a cross section of women with an interest in business.

The organisers said they envisaged the speakers’ diverse experiences would inspire attendees and give them courage to explore opportunities outside their comfort zone and challenge some of the boundaries they perceive for themselves.
