The Icehouse’s Business Owner Programme 2 begins in Tauranga on 20 May 2021. The six-month long programme is designed specifically for Bay of Plenty owners of businesses with revenues less than $3m.

The second Business Owner Programme (BOP) follows the inaugural running of the programme in 2020 and marks a sustained a period of growth activity for The Icehouse in the region.

In February 2021, The Icehouse announced a regional partnership for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty with leading law firm Tompkins Wake and also provides extensive tailored coaching services for owners and their employees throughout the region.

Jamie Brock, Programme Director for the Business Owner Programme, says: “[BOP] is a practical programme, featuring a like-minded group of business owners which we started last year in Tauranga. Participants come together and learn new skills. We have speakers and presenters, people like myself and others, who talk and share things around helping grow new business skills.”

The Icehouse has been helping New Zealand’s business community grow since its inception in 2001, lifting the capabilities and aspirations of owners, entrepreneurs and start-SME businesses through knowledge and connection.

New skills learnt on the programme include transforming business through sales, generating growth through digital channels, leadership and resilience and exit strategy/how to sell a business.

Brock says BOP provides a unique learning environment for owners and points to the additional benefits the Programme provides as an incentive to participate.

“Participants also get introduced to what The Icehouse does and the value of staying connected. So BOP is incredibly valuable in that sense, too. Directing BOP was one of the big highlights of 2020 for me.”

BOP participant Aaron Harvey, Operations Manager at Rapid Lawn, a Tauranga-based landscaping business, says: “I enjoyed analysing my strengths and weaknesses as a leader and using that to see what needs to be done to make me more effective in my role as operations manager. Also analysing our competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, and how you can differ, was so valuable.”
