Tauranga Business Chamber

Empowering the business community through support and connection

In the bustling world of business, connections and support networks can make all the difference. As the Membership Coordinator at the Tauranga Business Chamber, I embody this philosophy every day.
Bridget Jenkins – Membership Coordinator

My dedication to fostering relationships and supporting our members lies at the heart of the Chamber’s mission. Engaging with both new and existing members is a priority, and I see myself more as a cheerleader than a coordinator.

When a new member joins, I make it my mission to ensure they feel welcomed and valued. I help them set up their Chamber membership, and explain how to maximise their benefits, including the large range of discounts from nationwide brands, exclusive event access, and promoting their deals on our members platform. It’s important to me that they feel immediately at home.

But my role extends far beyond the initial welcome. Throughout the day, you might find me visiting members who have been with the Chamber for many years.

I love learning about their latest journeys, understanding their changing needs, and exploring new ways in which the Chamber can support their growth. Whether it’s meeting up at a local cafe with a business owner or getting a tour of their facilities, I am amazed by the courageousness of each business owner I meet. Let’s just say my days are filled with many laughs and a lot of coffees.

I also see myself as a concierge for member inquiries, coordinating services, and ensuring members access the full spectrum of benefits we offer. This includes our free business advice sessions, where I gather resources and connect clients with our contracted business advisor.

These sessions are available to absolutely anyone based in Tauranga who is thinking about becoming a business owner, freelancer, or sole trader. I maintain close contact with these budding entrepreneurs before and after their session with our business advisor and connect them with additional resources that best suit them.

Connecting with members at our popular business awards, golf tournaments, and networking events is another highlight of my role. At our Business After 5 evenings, I enjoy facilitating introductions between new and veteran members. This is a great way to break the ice, especially for those who tend to feel nervous in social gatherings. I always find it rewarding to support our members through these stages and watch them network and grow their businesses.

Each day is unique, but one thing remains constant: my commitment to caring for and supporting businesses on their journey. I get a real kick out of seeing people happy and thriving.
