Peka Industrial Park is proud to announce its first tenant, MixUp Concrete Rotorua Ltd, marking a major milestone in the development of the park.

“It’s great to have MixUp with us; we are walking the same environmental pathway which is good for everyone,” says Helen Beckett, Chair of Peka Lands Trust.

The park is set to make a significant impact on the Rotorua economy. “The economic development for the city will be huge in terms of bringing industry here that isn’t here already.” Beckett said, “It’s huge for Rotorua and it’s huge for our iwi and hapū.”

For MixUp, the opportunity to build from the ground up at Peka Industrial Park is a game-changer. Instead of adapting an existing site, they can design a purpose-built facility that maximises efficiency and sustainability.

“The biggest benefit we get from the Peka site is to be able to start on a fresh site without having to purchase land. We can tailor-make the plant to how we want it, design the layout and not have to break the bank,” says Todd Matchett, General Manager of MixUp Concrete Rotorua Ltd.

Matchett continues, “Our new concrete plant will enable us to produce low carbon concrete which will be the market leader in low carbon concrete in New Zealand.”

MixUp’s commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with Peka Industrial Park’s values, making this an ideal partnership.

Flat industrial land sites are on track to be ready by July 2025. Peka Industrial Park offers a rare opportunity to secure heavy Industrial-zoned (Industrial 2) land in a prime Rotorua location.

With strong interest and several sites already under negotiation, businesses looking for heavy industrial-zoned land in Rotorua are encouraged to secure their place now.

“Businesses are realising that, to prosper, they need an appropriate heavy industry zoning environment, and that is just what Peka has,” says Development Manager Mike Beattie.

Any new business looking to relocate to Rotorua will meet a supportive council environment.

Rotorua NZ CEO Andrew Wilson says, “At a council level, we’re really keen to support any new business coming into Rotorua which could involve allocating a development support person to help navigate the regulatory processes.”

“We’re up for having the discussion with any new business about what else they might need to make that transition as smooth as possible.”

Peka offers secure, long-term leases of up to 99 years, giving tenants the freedom to develop their site exactly as they need, with the Māori Land Court’s approval.

The park is situated at the southern gateway to Rotorua and is well located to serve local, regional and national businesses.

“Once complete, the park will be a modern, industrial environment that will support some of the region’s key industries such as forestry, agriculture, wood processing and geothermal.” Helen said.

The park will be developed in multiple stages with stage one generating 13 hectares of industrial land and stage two a further 7 hectares which is partly included in the current earthworks.
